Let’s be honest, dating can be quite an interesting experience. People are absolutely fascinating and you never really know what you’re going to get. While some dates can lead to amazing partnerships, others leave you with fascinating or horrible stories. We were curious about some of the best and worst date experiences folks have had and curated some of their responses.

Best Dates:

Attention to detail – The best date I have had was a private boat ride with dinner on the bay. She picked my outfit and had it ready for me. I was picked up and dropped off at the marina and scooped up on the boat. On deck was my favorite champagne, appetizers, some nice tunes followed by a mega surprise… some duck curry and dhal puri! I just had to marry her after that. – Gavin

Quality time – It was definitely being able to spend time alone with them, away from distractions that would influence the atmosphere. We went on a long drive to a lake and the atmosphere felt like peace and comfort itself. We were able to tease, make jokes and learn a lot about each other. It might sound cliché but it really helps having a person have their focus on you and in the moment. – Aneisa

Focused connection – The one that has stuck with me is when I was taken to a picnic in the park. We were painting, chatting, playing board games and vybing to music. It was really fun sharing space with them. It felt like a scene out of a movie and I really enjoyed being a part of it. – Danielle

Outdoor Adventures – I had mentioned to her on one of our initial chats that it had been a while since I went out of the city. So when she suggested we meet up for the first time for an out of town adventure, I was a bit nervous, but excited at the same time. I worked through the nerves and agreed. She had made some of my favorite things to eat and we spent the day at a resort on the highway and ended up competing against some people that were there playing games. I love to eat and I love the outdoors, so mixing those two together along with the opportunity to crush people at games together, saw me feening for another date. We’ve been together eight months now! – Jessica

WORST DATES

Tardiness and hygiene – My worst date was with a man whose breath I smelled as soon as he sat down. He had long hair growing out of his nose and despite all I tried, I couldn’t stop staring. On top of that, he was late and rude! – Grace

Inconsiderate – This Yankee chick asked me out on a date and while we were there, she “told” me its on me. I didn’t have an issue paying because I was gonna offer to anyways, but then she started ordering based upon what was the most expensive of the menu items. They had a single curry item on the menu and I asked what type of curry is it, if it’s Thai, Indian or what not. Before our waitress answered, she said, “Curry, eww gross.” That was it for me. I couldn’t take more. I asked for her excuse and told her I was going to the restroom. I just paid the waitress $100 for the two cocktails I ordered and told her to keep the change and she asked me if I’m leaving, I said yes and she asked what about my date. I told her she thinks I’m going to the restroom and I couldn’t take anymore. She laughed and said she was wondering how I could put up with that. I left and that was it. I didn’t answer her calls, texts and none of that. Blocked and deleted everywhere. – Gavin

Other woman – After hanging out after a few volleyball games he asked me out, I suggested we cook, he chose his place… we’re having a great time and then a young woman comes to the house, he tells me quickly and quietly that the woman is his cousin’s girlfriend, but he is in the room with his side chick, so we have to pretend like he is not home and just chill until she leaves or he gives the signal that the side chick left through the window…the three of us hung out for about 30 minutes until she left and then I drove home… It turns out, that the woman was my date’s girlfriend and he told her that I was the cousin’s side piece and that the cousin was in the room with his girlfriend and he (my date) was keeping me busy/distracted until the cousin got rid of his girlfriend…good times… – Erin

Where do I start? – I have a few. There was one date a guy took me to the subway but didn’t have enough money for the food and got upset with me. Another date where a guy wore these big headphones the whole time…I went on one where I didn’t know that the guy wanted me to be a unicorn for him and his wife and he brought his wife to the date. There was another I went on one where the guy was a feeder (someone who tries to increase women’s weight)… the dating scene is no place for fat women – Ashlee
